James Carpenter
I attended a lecture by James Carpenter last night. His work is light and materials, particularly glass. He showed an early work where he set up a series of movie cameras along a river pointing straight down. They caught salmon swimming from one camera's view to the next. Then he projected the images on the floor of a gallery to create an 80 foot river of filmed images. So you could watch the salmon move from one frame on the floor to the next one. Also some very nice use of LED lights behind diffuse glass.

Niki at the Gardens

On Sunday I went to see the Niki de Saint Phalle show at the Missouri Botanical Gardens.

It began to rain and get rather chilly so I looked around the gift shop for a while. I found this great book called Cool Green Stuff by Dale Evans. It's full of great green products, many made with recycled materials and each one has a web site for more info.
